Manufactured Homes, Modular Homes, and Site-Built Homes: What’s the Difference?

Manufactured homes, previously known as mobile homes, have significantly evolved since their inception. In Montgomery County, Texas, the introduction of the HUD code in 1976 ensured these homes met specific standards for safety and quality. Built entirely in a factory and transported to their final location on a permanent chassis, manufactured homes must adhere to HUD standards for construction, strength, and durability. They are generally more affordable due to the efficiency of factory construction, and modern advancements have significantly improved their quality and design.
